Advancing Resilience Through University-Led Innovation
RAN was founded in 2012 under the former United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Higher Education Solutions Network (HESN). Led by Makerere University, RAN brings together African universities in a mission to research, innovate, and scale solutions that strengthen community resilience. We focus on empowering local communities and systems to mitigate, adapt and thrive in the face of adversity ranging from climate change to public health crises.

Where We Work
RAN is clustered around four Resilience Innovation Labs. The RILabs serve as focal points for research and innovation commercialisation, spaces for convening and sharing knowledge and ideas, and catalysts for change in policy, practice and community development.
